Howard Elmer and his son Stephen are both members of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada – a professional group that represents the best of the auto media across the country. Each year (for over 30 now) this group gathers to test and judge the annual new automotive offerings in a multi-day event known amongst members as “TestFest.” This event covers all models and all brands.
Both Elmers, were on site testing, just a week after completing this year’s Canadian Truck King Challenge. Interestingly, many of the same trucks (not the vans) used in the Challenge are also shipped to TestFest and given another review by a large cross-section of Canada’s automotive journalists. The key difference here is that TestFest doesn’t do payload or tow with these entries.
Our winners have already been announced, full judges scoring will also be posted and real-world fuel economy results (gathered during testing) will soon be revealed.
So, having just completed one of the wettest TestFests’ in automotive history it will be interesting to see how the pickup trucks faired with this other group of journalists. AJAC segment winners are announced in December while the Car and Truck of the Year winners are revealed during the Toronto International Auto Show in February.
